“ we were in the area and needed a lunch break. gave the Southwind Cafe a try. we had our little pupper with us and they have outdoor seating in the shade. Morgan quickly came out to greet us and take our order. our dog got a bowl of water. we decided to try the pizzas. we did the big island and the tangier island. they were delicious. they are cut into 4 slices but we only could finish 3 each. as long as we were taking home the other slices we had to add some cake for later. so we took home a slice of lemon blueberry and a slice of carrot cake. they were amazing. its good to know I have a go to place for food when I am in the area. you have to stop in here. friendly service, small town kindness and great food. ”

They have a lot of other menu items, but the pizza is unbelievable! They must have a great oven because the top is slightly charred and the under carriage is awesome. No wimpy crust here! ”

“ Great place! This sleepy little town fills UP this place for lunch! The service, the food....always right on! The food is great (OMG, try the chicken salad!!!), and the wait staff is always helpful, attentive, and prompt, even when the restaurant is completely full! The chef is willing to make some subs when requested, but try to avoid asking....trust them, the food is great as-is! The deco is eclectic, with a racing skull hanging from the ceiling in back room. Old finds, fun things, and just a good time here!!! ”

“ Cute little restaurant in the middle of the cute town center of Mathews. Not a huge menu, which I love because normally it means the food is fresh. This was definitely the case for Southwinds! Family friendly atmosphere and very laid back. While we weren't in the mood for pizzas, the menu changed our minds. The Caribbean Jerk Chicken pizza hit the spot! Great service and overall experience! ”

“ The restaurants in Deltaville were full at 8pm on a Friday night in early October which was unexpected, so our group of five friends drove to Mathews to get pizza. We called and ordered ahead, a Rigby Island pizza and a New Pointe pizza. When we arrived they were getting ready to close but the staff said we could sit on the porch to eat which was super nice of them. They served us drinks and dessert as if we had ordered for dine in. We were so happy to have such friendly and welcoming service since it was so late. Our waiter Michael was wonderful and we will certainly be back. That buttermilk parmesan dressing they have is worth the drive. ”
